Spouwells Farm is conveniently situated for those wishing to visit The Mull Of Galloway, South Ayrshire, The Machars and Galloway Forest Park - the latter has miles and miles of public access routes for cycling, walking, horse riding and picnics. The Forest has a sculpture trail to keep children enthralled, and the Rangers hold a number of events during the summer for families. The Rhins itself has a large amount of woodland, much of it with way marked trails for you to follow and enjoy. The beaches at nearby Sandhead are family friendly too!

Stranraer is at the centre of the Rhins, an area covering the Mull of Galloway and the land between Loch Ryan and Luce Bay. It has many outstanding beaches, a variety of landscapes and a fascinating history and wildlife. The best known attractions are the Azalea & Rhododendron gardens of Castle Kennedy and Ardwell, and the sub-tropical Logan Botanic Garden - an outpost of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh - with its vast collection of flora from around the world, award winning self-guided tours and remarkable water features.

The fishing village of Portpatrick is only six miles away, with its antique shops, annual Folk Music Festival, its Lifeboat Week and numerous other events during the summer. The most southerly point of Scotland is the Mull of Galloway itself, where there is an RSPB reserve around the lighthouse, and views across to Ireland and the Isle of Man. It was once said that from the Mull one could see four kingdoms - England, the Isle of Man, Ireland and Scotland. At the other end of the Rhins stands Corsewall Lighthouse, now a remarkably fine hotel, with views as far west as Ireland  and as far north as Mull of Kintyre.

Golf is a popular pastime in Scotland. Locally we have six major courses: Portpatrick Golf Club (Dunskey & Dinvin Courses), Lagganmore Golf Club, St. Medans (Port William), Wigtownshire & County (Glen Luce), Stranraer Golf Club and Bladnoch & Wigtown Golf Club (Wigtown). All offer good facilities, challenging courses for the more experienced, and most have fantastic views - Portpatrick across the Irish Sea, Stranraer across Loch Ryan. Visitors are most welcome at all of the courses, and their is sure to be one to suit you within easy reach of Spoutwells Farm Holiday Cottages. Whilst here, why not visit the Colfin Smokehouse and sample some of the area's fantastic smoked produce? The Smokehouse won two Gold Awards at the Guild of Fine Food Retailer's 2006 awards and collected another Gold at the 2007 awards!
